Godfrey Hirst Australia
Carpet manufacturer Godfrey Hirst Australia has introduced a number of sustainability practices over the last seven years. The company’s philosophy of minimising the impact of operations on the environment has resulted in a manufacturing process that is efficient and environmentally responsible.
Many initiatives have been introduced to reduce, re-use and recycle; including its water treatment plant that is industry best practice in effluent recycling and stormwater harvesting. Its sustainability practices have helped to reduce emissions by 45%, measured per metre of carpet and delivered a 50% drop in water consumption – which is expected to fall even further.
Godfrey Hirst Australia believes its ability to present itself as a watchful employer, monitoring emissions and making sure it is efficient and viable in the long run is key to maintaining and improving its sustainability.
