Grocon
Development and construction group Grocon developed Pixelcrete, a ‘green’ concrete substitute that achieves the same strength as traditional concrete and can be used for all the same applications.
Pixelcrete has achieved three points under the Green Star rating system, containing a high portion of reclaimed and recycled aggregates and dramatically reducing the content of Portland cement. With worldwide production of Portland cement accounting for nearly 5% of the world’s annual greenhouse gas emissions, this product has a very significant potential worldwide impact.
It is believed that Pixelcrete is the first ‘green’ concrete capable of use for in-situ casting of post tensioned suspended slabs. It has been used in all concrete applications at Grocon’s Pixel building.
