Murra Warra Wind Farm harnessing long-term renewable energy supply
A new renewable energy power purchasing agreement led by Telstra with a consortium of large energy users will reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Australia by about 900,000 tonnes per year.
The agreement covers the 226 megawatt (MW) first stage of the Murra Warra Wind Farm near Horsham in western Victoria. It represents Telstra’s largest single commitment to renewable energy generation, contributing to the Victorian Government Renewable Energy target while creating 150 jobs in regional Victoria.
The commitment to support Murra Warra through purchase of the renewable energy is the equivalent to taking about 320,000 cars off the road every year.
