When Balloons Fly
Zoos Victoria teamed up with Phillip Island Nature Parks to encourage the use of bubbles to replace balloons at outdoor events, reducing plastic pollution and saving marine life.
When Balloons Fly is a campaign that tackles plastic pollution which poses a serious threat to marine biodiversity. An estimated 650 marine species are known to interact with plastic debris. Seabirds are particularly vulnerable to balloons and their attachments, which present entanglement and ingestion risks.
The campaign has demonstrably increased awareness of this issue and empowers the community to use bubbles instead of balloons at outdoor events.
